In what countries is Persian spoken?
Persian language, also called Farsi, is a member of the Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian language family.
It is the official language of Iran, and two varieties of Persian known as Dari and Tajik are official languages in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, respectively.
What is the difference between Farsi and Dari?
Farsi and Dari are two dialects of the same language (Persian), mutually intelligible in written format, but different when spoken.
Do Dari speakers and Farsi speakers understand each other?
For the most part, yes. You may think of it as an American talking to someone from Australia or South Africa.
They both speak English, but they sound a little different, and there are a few words used by the Australian speaker in a 2-min conversation, that if the American speaker is not familiar with them, may confuse her.
Do your interpreters speak Farsi as well as Dari?
We try to match native speakers of these two dialects for each assignment, but all our interpreters have experience with both dialects and are fluent and comfortable, interpreting for Farsi speakers as well as Dari speakers.
Do you provide interpreting/translating any languages/dialects other than Persian/Farsi/Dari?
No, we don't.
